Schlangenbrot

Ingredients

  • 1 package of active dry yeast (about 2.5 tsp)
  • 1 cup luke warm water (about 2.5 dl)
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • 2.5 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder

Instructions

  1. In medium bowl, mix water and yeast. Let sit 5 mins.
  2. Add in salt, flour, baking powder.
  3. When dough has pulled together, knead in bowl or on a flat lightly floured surface for 5-10 minutes.
  4. Place dough back in bowl and cover with warm damp cloth. Let rise for 1 hour.
  5. Roll dough out into several long strips about 1/2 inch thick by 12 inches long.
  6. Wrap dough around sticks and cook over an open fire.
